Premise: Nature connects everything in purposeful ways. But how? How do we know this? And how is the human mind central to this ongoing connection-making process? Since early childhood, I embarked on a quest to grasp how our minds are connected to nature, and how they're linked to everything they create: from concepts of cities, cultures and civilizations to every object in the built environment. Using basic questions as catalysts for discovery, I ask myself: What is nature? What is mind? What is the nature of mind? Is the creative process nature's way of inventing nature? Is there one process of creativity nature uses infinitely to give form to everything it invents? What can A.R.T. teach us about the deep connections between the brain and its countless creations? For me, A.R.T. encompasses All Representations of Thought: from the expressive gestures of dancers to the symbolic models of chemists; from fleeting back-of-the-envelop notes from brainstorms to rigorous proofs by pure mathematicians; from Ahas! uttered in moments of breakthrough to technological marvels collaboratively created by our collective genius; from private muses on life to public solutions to real-world problems that challenge our common sense and imagination--inspiring us to always reach like visionaries for our ideals.
